Memorial Day

I just want to remind everyone to take a break during all the BBQ's and celebrations this weekend to remember what this holiday is for: honoring our troops.

Regardless of your political stance and feelings on war, our freedoms are protected by men and women who deserve our gratitude. Many of them are barely 18, yet they put themselves in harms way for us. I think that earns them our respect.

Ok, I'm off my soapbox now. I hope you all are enjoying the long weekend and having lots of good food!

I leave you with a picture of my Navy man hanging out on his ship during a deployment last year.

Thanks for taking the time and blog post to say what needs to be said. I think a lot of people just view today as a day off and BBQ time. I think everyone needs to be reminded to remember and honor those that serve for all of us, regardless of their views. So please, stay on your soapbox and tell it to all that will listen! I know we don't know each other, but thank you to your husband and to your family for all that you go through. Thanks.

Well put! The true message def. gets lost here and there amongst everything going on, so very cool that you threw out the reminder of what today's all about :) Enjoy the time with your family!

Well put.
I think too many people want to look the other way and forget, just because it is hard to remember. But the men and women who have sacrificed for our freedom (whether or not we agree with the politics of it) deserve so much more.
